Construction lawyers are usually hired by people who'd like to have a huge or even a custom-made place to themselves. Something that they live comfortably live in.

High-end homeowners living in custom houses usually hire a construction lawyer before they start building their homes. They usually do this before they get the original bid on the property, before the plan on hiring the contractor or architect or the engineer, before they get the contract, before the construction starts, etc.

This is done so that they can get the construction lawyer involved so they can guide as to what are the key terms that should be included in the construction contracts, the key term to include in the agreements for the architect or engineer or contractor. This is so as these are the terms that are going to protect the client if something were to go wrong. For example, now if you're the client who wants to get his house renovated and you get several bids from different contractors, you then narrow it down to whom you'd wish to pick and you also decide a price.

Now, what happens when you hand them the construction contract to them and it has terms and conditions they were not expecting to see? What do you do? The best way to handle this is to prepare a construction contract before-hand, present it to the bidding contractors and let them know that when they are giving you an estimate, it needs to include signing the terms and conditions of the contract.

These agreements usually protect the clients from claims from unpaid vendors, indemnity obligations, etc. So you see, hiring Residential Construction Lawyers isn't a bad idea.
